- Preview and Interactive Resource About TV Advertising
-
- *The Critical Eye: Inside Television Advertising* is an interactive media
- literacy resource designed for Macintosh users who want to teach and learn
- about television advertising in the secondary and post- secondary classroom.
- The resource includes information about political, product and public service
- advertising. Users can also play a game that allows them to "create" a San
- Francisco Giants ad. Intended to supplement classroom lessons about advertising and propaganda, the interactive videodisc contains television ads,
- historical ads, storyboards of ad campaigns, audience research information,
- interviews with advertising executives, producers and political consultants,
- and much, much more.
-
- *The Critical Eye* was designed by Strategies for Media Literacy, a San
- Francisco-based organization that promotes media education in the United
- States, beginning in early elementary education. The resource was funded by a
- grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Other resources
- available from SML include *Media & You: An Elementary Media Literacy
- Curriculum*, *Strategies* newsletter, and The Media Literacy BBS.
-
- The complete *Critical Eye* package includes a 30-minute videodisc, a
- Hypercard 2.1 stack, and an installation manual. The demo version allows you
- to preview *The Critical Eye* without the videodisc.
-
- *The Critical Eye: Inside TV Advertising* is available for the low price of
- $89.95. If you like the on-line preview of *The Critical Eye*, you can order
- the complete resource, including the videodisc, installation manual and
- Hypercard stack by sending $89.95 or a valid school purchase order to:
- Strategies for Media Literacy, 1095 Market St., Ste. 617, San Francisco, CA
- 94103. California residents add 8.5% sales tax.
